Welcome to the 4ERIC Blogspot!

4ERIC was created in November of 2010. Our goal is to end the practice of routine infant circumcision in the United States; whether it’s done through legislation (i.e., amending the law that currently protects infant girls from circumcision, to include infant boys as well), or through perseverance in educating the American public about the harmful effects of circumcision, and to encourage every hospital, doctors, pediatric and ob-gyn clinics to stop offering the procedure for cosmetic reasons. Every male has a right to genital integrity. A penis was designed with a foreskin; it’s there for a reason. Do you have a baby girl? If you do, take a moment to think about it; would you have her clitoral hood circumcised? You would probably say “Hell no!”, faster than you could blink. It’s illegal to do it to infant girls in America today…but when you have a baby boy, why do you feel like you need to choose whether or not you want his foreskin circumcised? It should be a no-brainer. Americans (not all, but most) are so culturally fixated on a circumcised penis and believe a circumcised penis is the norm. Just because something is done through culture, custom, or tradition, does not mean it’s ethical or right! Tradition has to start from somewhere. Long ago, circumcision was introduced in America as a means for preventing masturbation, and so a tradition formed. Back then, and we do not think like they did, today, but back then no one questioned it. So pause for a second, and think back about it, do you agree that it was ethical or right for doctors to impose circumcision on both boys & girls, back in the 1800′s, solely as a reason to prevent them from masturbating? It isn’t ethical. In some African and Muslim countries, it’s their culture to circumcise females, and there is a HUGE out cry from all over the world to end this barbaric procedure for females in countries that still do it. Why the double standard? Boys should all leave the hospital as newborns INTACT, just as nature intended it to be. It’s time to END the cultural tradition of circumcision in America. If it cannot be done through legislation, at least one day, through proper education and influence, a very high majority of newborn infant boys will be left intact, just like 100% of infant girls are left intact.
